Reality Sucks?

The following is the sequence of a real life incident. This is not intended to hurt anyone's feelings or finger point at anyone. It is just a thought. Sincerely apologize if this hurt's anyone's / organizations' intentions.

1700 hours: It was mid-April, summer time in the country. This particular day was a bright sunny day . Me and my friends were having a great time in enjoying the weather and having a good coffee time. Having nothing to do we were just lazing in this place and try to spend some time for ourselves in this hectic world of work which ends up at tireless late night efforts, late night and early morning calls!!!.

1900 hrs: The temperature was still zooming up so we decided to take some rest in one of the cool joints over coffee and some snacks at a different place. It was 730PM in the evening at one of the fast food joints. We had just ordered and there was a sudden heavy lash of rain, wind blowing, newspapers, bags, dust every where. People were running to find a small place to avoid getting drenched in the rain. And there is the traffic jams, everyone honking, autos ruling the road and that's what it was.

2000 hrs: Dogs were barking, people yelling at each other for a small space to avoid rain... just then my dear friend MK received a call, 'hey MK, can you please go to a hospital it is very very urgent and i am shit scared'. The call was from MK's dearest friend (SS) who has seen only worst things in life. His friend was hundreds of kms away and he wanted MK to be at the hospital the very next second. Imagine the traffic and the chaos of the place!!!!!! This was a very unforgettable call in my life.

2015 hrs: Digging around, we learn that SS' sister had just met with an accident and was admitted to one of the hospitals in the city. But which hospital!!!!! I silently prayed for a good news but was scared. MK and myself took our car and decided to go to the hospitals where accidents are handled. Luckily we traced his relatives numbers and realised the place where she has been taken to. On one of our calls we were told, that she has passed away within minutes of the accident!!!! A tragedy!!!!!!At this moment, i remembered my mother's words, who says "When a good person dies, it normally rains heavily even the heaven starts crying!!!!"- How true??
This lady was in mid 30's to 40's with small kids!!!!! I prayed again for a safe departed soul and for the soul to rest in peace, not to mention to give courage to the family in this odd time!!!!!!! Would that family have thought of this?? They had been to shopping and would they ever think that in next few seconds a tragedy will take place!!! Somewhere someone is guiding and taking decisions at the right time for a cause which is very very hard to digest but it is all for a cause and purpose - DESTINY.

2030 hrs: We managed to reach the hospital and rushed to the place just to see her body. The body was kept on a table. Two men were working on the body, removing the jewellery. I could see courage on their face but grief in their heart. They were her father and husband. Her father greeted us and requested for small favours. Police was around, nursing staff was there with little help!!! We should appreciate the girl's father who was meticulously following all procedures without a frown , signing papers and handling the entire situation with a courage!!! A great man!!!

2130 hrs: The plight of the hospital and the coldness in the air was too hard to digest. On one side there is a family with grief and on the other side there is the grim faced staff!!!! I wondered about these staff and their plight. They must have seen thousands of these stories and would have lost all compassion and energy to support. One needs to appreciate the family and the staff for the support, courage, coldness and everything but for a person like it was simply tough to face. Just then the reports were cleared. The body was taken to the morgue.

2200 hrs: Some more friends arrive and they participate in helping to keep the body in the morgue. To our horror, the body was kept in a morgue an "Asbestos shed" with no ICE!!!! We were told, the body will be there till next day until the police clearance of evidence and other formalities are completed. Looking at this state of SS' sister, only one thought came: "If she can see herself lying along, what will she think? Is there no one to look at my body also!!!!!" It was another body among all other dead bodies. A grave site!!! Another Picture which i can never forget in my life!!!!!

2220 hrs: Some friends who could not bear this sight, decided to pay for moving the body to a different morgue where "ICE" was available for a fee at a free hospital!!. They managed to place the body in the "ICE" morgue but to the utter disappointment, one of the bodies was replaced with this one!!! What a shame that we have to pay even after we die for our useless body!!!!!!! Another life has gone, but world continues to the be same.. will it improve over its mistakes ... only time can answer!!!

2240 hrs: Some key friends from government arrive to sort out the formalities and decision was taken to cremate next day as per family rituals after clearing the necessary government procedures!!!!!

2300 hrs: We were driving back home. MK whispered to me: " Is there no way can we bring her back??" - What do we answer?. This reminded me of the famous poem:

Veedu varai uravu
Veedhi varai manaivi
kaadu varai payan
kadaisi varai yaro???

It means:

Till the house the relations
Till the end of the street is wife (In India ladies are normally not entertained to funeral grounds)
Till the funeral ground is the son
Till the end who will come?? (Only our good deeds is it not???)

The reason for me to post this is, will our country ever have the basic infrastructure to improve these conditions and can they provide some mental support to the people who are ,under influence of these conditions and that too to pay fee for a body!! Today we boast about our economic boom!!! Economic boom for whom and who is benefiting!!!! There are lots which needs attention - the basics health and food followed by Other infrastructures - right? ..
